To develop software and contribute as a software engineer on a team that is developing the next generation instrument for LumiraDx.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of software running on our Point of Care (POC) medical device running on with an embedded Linux Operating System
  • Develop and maintain a distributed python based service architecture, with inter-process communication
  • Integrate software from various repositories using a Yocto based build system
  • Ability and temperament to work independently and within a team of Software developers with a wide range of technical experience, using Agile processes
  • Create and maintain low-level driver firmware for MCU peripherals such as UART, SPI, I2C, etc.
  • Implement unit tests with unit testing frameworks
  • Develop software tools and tests to exercise and regression test software features
  • Participate in software reviews, and provide feedback on design and technical best practices
  • Defect analysis and root cause problem solving
  • Contribute to technical requirements, architecture, specifications, and interface design documents compliant with our established quality system and design controls
  • Risk analysis and impact analysis of implemented software on an entire system

About You

To be successful in this role you must be a highly motivated individual that can demonstrate flexibility and a can-do attitude. You should ensure positive, productive and proactive relationships with a range of internal and external key stakeholders

Essential skills

  • 7+ years of embedded software engineering experience, ideally with python
  • Ability to develop and maintain embedded C
  • A BS in electrical/electronic engineering, computer science, or computer engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Passion for continuously improving yourself and the product
  • Experience with yocto build systems
  • Experience with embedded linux operating systems
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks (ex. Unity and CMock)
  • Experience working in formal Agile scrum development process (scrum, Kanban, SAFE)
  • Experience with software project management and code repository tools (ex. Jira, Git)
  • Experience with code quality/reliability standards (ex. Cert-C or MISRA)
  • Experience developing software for medical devices (IEC 62304)
  • Experience with leadership, management, and mentorship
  • Experience in embedded development in IOT or equivalent
  • Experience creating clear technical specifications and design documentation
